"IN A MIST" by Bix Beiderbecke, piano solo

  1. "In a Mist," played by its composer, Bix Beiderbecke, one of the finest cornet and trumpet players in the history of jazz. Bix died much too young (barely 30) from too much bad prohibition alcohol. He had a rented piano in his bathroom, stuffed with newspapers in the sound box in order to muzzle the sound during the early morning hours, when he would come home from gigs and would sit down to play and compose. He was influenced by Debussy and the French impressionists. The sound of his cornet and trumpet playing is legendary and musicians have tried to imitate it for generations. Gabe Meruelo.
